A knight was a member of the warrior class of the Middle Ages in Europe who followed a code of law called "chivalry". In other Indo-European languages, cognates of cavalier or rider are more prevalent, suggesting a connection to the knight's mode of transport. Since antiquity a position of honour and prestige has been held by mounted warriors such as the Greek hippeus and the Roman eques, and knighthood in the Middle Ages was inextricably linked with horsemanship.
Fashion a chain mail shirt from the metal lids of frozen juice cans. A young child's costume requires approximately 40 lids. If necessary, use sandpaper to soften the edges of the metal lids. Punch holes in the lids with a hammer and nail. Connect different lids with wire loops. Be sure to leave a hole in the center of the armor for the wearer's head. When complete, the armor will drape over the shoulders.
Create a simple chain mail and tunic costume from a black T-shirt, black cloth and a pair of silver pants. Measure the length of the costume wearer's arms and add an inch. Cut that length from the legs of the silver pants. Attach them to the black shirt at the seam of the arm hole. Fashion a hood from the remainder of the pants and sew the hood into the shirt.
Measure the height of the wearer from mid-thigh to the top of the head. Use a piece of black cloth that is twice that length and barely wider than the wearer's shoulders. Cut a small hole, slightly smaller than the neck of the T-shirt, for the wearer's head. If necessary, cut a small section from the neck downward to allow the head to slip through.
Add strips of cosplay costumes fabric or ribbon to the sides of the tunic that can be tied to close the fabric.
Create a helmet from a gallon milk carton. Hold the carton upside down by the handle. Use a permanent marker to trace an arc from an inch below the handle to just a few inches below the lid on the other side of the carton. Use scissors to cut along the drawn lines. The wearer's head should fit into the carton when the cutting is complete. Trim the sharp edges. Wrap the helmet with duct tape or papier-mâché and decorate as desired.
Create a shield from a circle of cardboard. Wrap with aluminum foil and decorate with markers or paint. Duplicate a family crest, symbol, or medieval icon, such as a dragon. Cut horizontal slits in the middle of the shield and run a Velcro strap through it. This will secure the shield to the wrist of the wearer. Buy cosplay from acosplay shop.
A sword can be made of cardboard also. Cut the shape of the blade and handle from a sheet of cardboard. Wrap the blade with tin foil for a shiny effect and decorate the handle with paint, markers and fake rhinestones to create an elegant weapon.
